Destination & City Travel Guide

About Singapore

Singapore rewards a plan built around neighbourhoods rather than a long list of landmarks. Little India has temples, shops and places to eat around Serangoon Road; Marina Bay connects public space with Gardens by the Bay; and the river districts lead towards museums and older civic buildings. Changi Airport is linked to the MRT, so arriving passengers can reach an accommodation area without arranging a car in advance. Humidity and brief showers still shape a walking day.

Tips for travellers from India

Serangoon Road is a useful short-stay base for Serangoon Road restaurants and the Downtown and North East MRT lines. City Hall works better for the National Gallery and riverfront, while Marina Bay puts the waterfront close by but separates it from the small shops around Tekka Centre. Decide which cluster matters before choosing a hotel; a place near an MRT entrance can be more useful than a central-looking map pin across a large road junction.

Changi’s MRT station serves Terminals 2 and 3. The airport branch requires a change at Tanah Merah for the East West Line towards town, while Expo provides an interchange with the Downtown Line. This distinction matters for hotels near Bugis or Serangoon Road. Jewel is on the public side of the airport, so a visit during a connection requires the appropriate entry permission and a return through departure formalities. Gardens by the Bay’s outdoor grounds and its ticketed conservatories need different amounts of time; a walk through the gardens does not include admission to every attraction. Keep Sentosa as a separate outing from the civic district, and group the National Gallery beside the Padang, Singapore River and nearby bridges into a day with fewer transfers.

About New Delhi

New Delhi is the seat of India's central government, and the metropolis around it runs on public administration, services, retail and the corporate offices of Gurugram and Noida. Three UNESCO World Heritage Sites lie within the city: the Red Fort complex, the Qutb Minar and its monuments, and Humayun's Tomb. Visitors come for those sites, for the food lanes of Old Delhi and for trade fairs at Pragati Maidan, and many use Delhi as the first stop before Agra, Jaipur or the hills of Himachal and Uttarakhand.

What's new in Delhi

  • October 2025: The rebuilt Terminal 2 at Indira Gandhi International Airport reopened on 26 October 2025 after a closure that began in April 2025, and a share of IndiGo and Air India domestic flights moved into it. Check the terminal printed on the boarding pass before leaving for the airport.
  • February 2026: The full 82 km Namo Bharat regional rail corridor from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram in Meerut was inaugurated on 22 February 2026, giving south-east Delhi a fast rail link to Ghaziabad and Meerut.
  • June 2026: Noida International Airport at Jewar (DXN) began scheduled flights on 15 June 2026, with IndiGo operating the first service. For some domestic routes it is a practical alternative for travellers based in Noida and Greater Noida.

Tips for travellers

For a two or three day stay, Connaught Place, Paharganj and Karol Bagh sit on the Blue and Yellow metro lines, while Aerocity suits early departures because it is next to the airport. The Delhi Metro is the quickest way across the city, and a smart card or a QR ticket bought on a phone saves time at the counters. October to March is the main sightseeing season, though smog can be heavy in November, and Diwali week fills hotels and trains. May and June are extremely hot.

The Red Fort is closed on Mondays. At Jama Masjid and Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, remove your shoes and cover your shoulders and legs; the gurudwara also asks everyone to cover their head and lends scarves at the entrance. Swaminarayan Akshardham does not allow phones or cameras inside, so leave them in the cloakroom or at the hotel.

Best time to visit New Delhi

October to March, with days of about 7-30°C; November can bring heavy smog. April to June often passes 40°C.
