Delhi to Vantaa Flights

What's new in Delhi

• October 2025: The rebuilt Terminal 2 at Indira Gandhi International Airport reopened on 26 October 2025 after a closure that began in April 2025, and a share of IndiGo and Air India domestic flights moved into it. Check the terminal printed on the boarding pass before leaving for the airport.
• February 2026: The full 82 km Namo Bharat regional rail corridor from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram in Meerut was inaugurated on 22 February 2026, giving south-east Delhi a fast rail link to Ghaziabad and Meerut.
• June 2026: Noida International Airport at Jewar (DXN) began scheduled flights on 15 June 2026, with IndiGo operating the first service. For some domestic routes it is a practical alternative for travellers based in Noida and Greater Noida.

Tips for travellers

For a two or three day stay, Connaught Place, Paharganj and Karol Bagh sit on the Blue and Yellow metro lines, while Aerocity suits early departures because it is next to the airport. The Delhi Metro is the quickest way across the city, and a smart card or a QR ticket bought on a phone saves time at the counters. October to March is the main sightseeing season, though smog can be heavy in November, and Diwali week fills hotels and trains. May and June are extremely hot.

The Red Fort is closed on Mondays. At Jama Masjid and Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, remove your shoes and cover your shoulders and legs; the gurudwara also asks everyone to cover their head and lends scarves at the entrance. Swaminarayan Akshardham does not allow phones or cameras inside, so leave them in the cloakroom or at the hotel.

Tips for travellers from India

Helsinki Central is a practical base for a brief stay centred on Oodi, Senate Square and the harbour. Kamppi suits travellers who want the coach terminal nearby, while the Design District puts small shops and galleries within a neighbourhood walking route. Choose between these areas by the part of the city you intend to explore.

The airport railway station is below the terminal. Both I and P trains reach Helsinki Central, taking different sides of the suburban loop. Use the HSL journey planner for the actual hotel address, since the last tram or bus connection can matter more than the direction of the airport train. HSL also brings local transport planning into the same system as the Suomenlinna ferry.

Make Suomenlinna a separate harbour outing instead of adding it between two museum appointments. Its fortifications occupy islands with paths between residential areas, so the walk continues beyond the ferry landing. Return to Market Square for the mainland part of the day. Oodi and the central railway station pair naturally on another walk, whereas the Design District lies south of this cluster. This arrangement keeps the sea crossing, civic buildings and design shops in three manageable groups and avoids repeated trips across the centre.
