Destination & City Travel Guide
About Rome
Rome rewards a plan built around nearby sights. The Colosseum and Roman Forum make one archaeological outing, while the Pantheon and surrounding lanes suit a separate walk. Trastevere is useful for an evening meal after the major monuments close. Travellers from India landing at Fiumicino can reach Termini by express train, but a hotel near another station may need an extra connection. Reserve time slots for major sites and keep a little space in the day for long security queues.

What's new in Rome
- December 2025: Colosseo–Fori Imperiali station opened on Metro C, adding an interchange with Line B beside the ancient archaeological district.
- December 2025: Porta Metronia station opened on the same extension, bringing metro access and archaeological displays to another part of the city.
Tips for travellers from India
Termini makes a convenient arrival base when using the Leonardo Express from Fiumicino. The train takes about 32 minutes and finishes at the main station, so its advantage is strongest for accommodation nearby. A Trastevere address calls for a different comparison: regional airport trains serve urban stations other than Termini, and the final connection should determine the choice.
Keep the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and surrounding streets together as a walking day. Put the Colosseum and Forum on another part of the programme, with the new Metro C interchange offering another way into that district. Trastevere fits more naturally with an evening across the Tiber than with repeated crossings between archaeological sites.
The Vatican Museums belong on their own half-day across the river. A central Rome hotel does not make every major attraction a neighbouring stop. For a short stay, selecting two of these geographical groups produces a clearer route than trying to alternate between the Vatican, Forum and Trastevere within one afternoon.
Best time to visit Rome
April to June or September to October, around 12–27°C, for outdoor sites.

About New Delhi
New Delhi is the seat of India's central government, and the metropolis around it runs on public administration, services, retail and the corporate offices of Gurugram and Noida. Three UNESCO World Heritage Sites lie within the city: the Red Fort complex, the Qutb Minar and its monuments, and Humayun's Tomb. Visitors come for those sites, for the food lanes of Old Delhi and for trade fairs at Pragati Maidan, and many use Delhi as the first stop before Agra, Jaipur or the hills of Himachal and Uttarakhand.

- February 2026: The full 82 km Namo Bharat regional rail corridor from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram in Meerut was inaugurated on 22 February 2026, giving south-east Delhi a fast rail link to Ghaziabad and Meerut.

Tips for travellers
For a two or three day stay, Connaught Place, Paharganj and Karol Bagh sit on the Blue and Yellow metro lines, while Aerocity suits early departures because it is next to the airport. The Delhi Metro is the quickest way across the city, and a smart card or a QR ticket bought on a phone saves time at the counters. October to March is the main sightseeing season, though smog can be heavy in November, and Diwali week fills hotels and trains. May and June are extremely hot.
The Red Fort is closed on Mondays. At Jama Masjid and Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, remove your shoes and cover your shoulders and legs; the gurudwara also asks everyone to cover their head and lends scarves at the entrance. Swaminarayan Akshardham does not allow phones or cameras inside, so leave them in the cloakroom or at the hotel.
Best time to visit New Delhi
October to March, with days of about 7-30°C; November can bring heavy smog. April to June often passes 40°C.

Airport Information & Terminals
DEL: Indira Gandhi International Airport. Delhi airport is large and terminal-sensitive. T3 is easiest by Airport Express Metro; T1 and T2 need a cab, shuttle or careful terminal planning. Connaught Place and central Delhi are usually workable from the airport, but office traffic and winter fog can change the whole plan.
