Sharjah gives a visitor two distinct walks: the lanes and courtyards of the Heart of Sharjah, and the waterfront near the Museum of Islamic Civilization. Souq Al Arsah and the Central Souk offer different views of trading life, while the art spaces reward more time than a quick airport stop allows. The emirate is close to Dubai, yet its older districts and cultural institutions give it a separate reason to travel from India.
Choose a base near the Heart of Sharjah if the Art Museum, Souq Al Arsah and old trading houses are the priority. Al Majaz suits evenings beside Khalid Lagoon, but it places the heritage quarter on a separate taxi route. The orange Muwasalat buses connect the airport with urban stops; a hotel on the lagoon may still require an onward ride. Treat a trip into Dubai as a separate outing because the inter-emirate commute can consume much of a short stay.
Sharjah Archaeology Museum and the neighbouring Science Museum are in Halwan, away from the creekside museum cluster. Pair these two rather than crossing town between every gallery. Mleiha and Al Dhaid belong to the emirate’s inland region and require a road excursion, not an extension of a central walking route. The Central Souk and Souq Al Arsah also offer different shopping settings: the former is a substantial market building, while the latter fits naturally into a Heart of Sharjah walk.
November to March, roughly 18–30°C, for waterfront walks and outdoor souks.
By Air: Sharjah International Airport (SHJ) is about 10 km from Sharjah city centre; allow around 20–30 minutes by road. Muwasalat buses, coaches and taxis serve the terminal.

New Delhi is the seat of India's central government, and the metropolis around it runs on public administration, services, retail and the corporate offices of Gurugram and Noida. Three UNESCO World Heritage Sites lie within the city: the Red Fort complex, the Qutb Minar and its monuments, and Humayun's Tomb. Visitors come for those sites, for the food lanes of Old Delhi and for trade fairs at Pragati Maidan, and many use Delhi as the first stop before Agra, Jaipur or the hills of Himachal and Uttarakhand.
For a two or three day stay, Connaught Place, Paharganj and Karol Bagh sit on the Blue and Yellow metro lines, while Aerocity suits early departures because it is next to the airport. The Delhi Metro is the quickest way across the city, and a smart card or a QR ticket bought on a phone saves time at the counters. October to March is the main sightseeing season, though smog can be heavy in November, and Diwali week fills hotels and trains. May and June are extremely hot.
The Red Fort is closed on Mondays. At Jama Masjid and Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, remove your shoes and cover your shoulders and legs; the gurudwara also asks everyone to cover their head and lends scarves at the entrance. Swaminarayan Akshardham does not allow phones or cameras inside, so leave them in the cloakroom or at the hotel.
October to March, with days of about 7-30°C; November can bring heavy smog. April to June often passes 40°C.
By Air: Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) is about 16 km south-west of Connaught Place; allow 40-60 minutes by road, more at peak hours. The Airport Express metro line links Terminal 3 with New Delhi station, the Magenta Line serves Terminal 1, and prepaid taxis and app cabs run from all terminals.
By Rail: New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Old Delhi and Anand Vihar Terminal are the main stations. Vande Bharat trains run to Varanasi, Amritsar and Katra, and Rajdhani services link the city with Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
By Road: NH 44 runs north to Punjab and Kashmir, the Yamuna Expressway reaches Agra, and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is open in sections to the south-west. State and private buses leave from the Kashmere Gate, Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan bus terminals.
