Jeddah is a city to see on foot in small sections. In Al Balad, coral-stone buildings and wooden balconies line old streets; the Corniche offers a contrasting Red Sea walk; and museums explain local art and trade. The King Abdulaziz International Airport terminal used by a flight matters, particularly during pilgrimage periods. Travellers from India who intend to continue to Makkah or Madinah can use the Haramain rail station at the airport after checking the service and their entry documents.
Al Balad is the right focus for a heritage walk, whereas a Corniche hotel better suits the Red Sea waterfront. The two areas are far enough apart to make repeated taxi crossings inconvenient. In Al Balad, group the restored houses and Tariq Abdulhakim Centre into one visit, then leave the seafront for another part of the day.
The airport’s Haramain railway station is associated with Terminal 1, which matters when arriving elsewhere and continuing towards Makkah or Madinah. Rail tickets and the permission needed for a pilgrimage are separate arrangements. Terminal 4 opened in phases from 27 September 2026, and Akasa Air moved there from the Hajj and Umrah terminals on 29 September 2026. Verify the actual building before meeting a driver. Al Balad’s narrow historic lanes also make a named meeting point at the district edge more practical than expecting a car to stop beside every restored house.
November to February, around 21–31°C, for Al Balad and waterfront walks.

King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED). Terminal 1 handles domestic and international services and connects with the Haramain railway station. Cairo takes more than a single monument stop. The Egyptian Museum stands near Tahrir Square, while Coptic Cairo has churches and a museum within a compact historic area. Islamic Cairo brings bazaars and mosques into another part of the city. The Giza pyramids lie across the metropolitan area and need their own travel window. Indian visitors should plan around traffic rather than distance alone. Cairo International Airport is northeast of the centre, and a licensed transfer can simplify the first arrival.
Tahrir is useful for the Egyptian Museum and central Cairo, while a Giza stay favours the pyramids and Grand Egyptian Museum. These are different sightseeing bases across the metropolitan area. Zamalek provides another island neighbourhood option, but still requires road transfers to the major archaeological sites. Choose the museum by its full name when arranging a car: the Egyptian Museum at Tahrir and the Grand Egyptian Museum near Giza are separate institutions.
The Grand Egyptian Museum’s inauguration took place in November 2025, adding a major collection destination near the pyramids. A Giza day can focus on that area rather than crossing back to Tahrir between visits. Coptic Cairo forms another compact heritage cluster, while Khan el-Khalili and nearby Islamic monuments belong to a different district. Cairo Airport is northeast of these sightseeing areas, so the first transfer may be much longer to Giza than to an eastern hotel. Its terminal allocation follows the operating airline rather than whether a ticket was bought through a partner. The airport publishes an airline directory for checking the actual departure building. A brief stay works better with one Giza day and one central or old-city day than with repeated river crossings. Each museum has its own admission arrangements, even when an excursion combines several archaeological stops.
November to March, roughly 10–23°C, for outdoor archaeological visits.

By Road: Airport buses and taxis connect with city districts; intercity coaches use several terminals.
