Jeddah is a city to see on foot in small sections. In Al Balad, coral-stone buildings and wooden balconies line old streets; the Corniche offers a contrasting Red Sea walk; and museums explain local art and trade. The King Abdulaziz International Airport terminal used by a flight matters, particularly during pilgrimage periods. Travellers from India who intend to continue to Makkah or Madinah can use the Haramain rail station at the airport after checking the service and their entry documents.
Al Balad is the right focus for a heritage walk, whereas a Corniche hotel better suits the Red Sea waterfront. The two areas are far enough apart to make repeated taxi crossings inconvenient. In Al Balad, group the restored houses and Tariq Abdulhakim Centre into one visit, then leave the seafront for another part of the day.
The airport’s Haramain railway station is associated with Terminal 1, which matters when arriving elsewhere and continuing towards Makkah or Madinah. Rail tickets and the permission needed for a pilgrimage are separate arrangements. Terminal 4 opened in phases from 27 September 2026, and Akasa Air moved there from the Hajj and Umrah terminals on 29 September 2026. Verify the actual building before meeting a driver. Al Balad’s narrow historic lanes also make a named meeting point at the district edge more practical than expecting a car to stop beside every restored house.
November to February, around 21–31°C, for Al Balad and waterfront walks.
By Air: King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) is about 20–25 km north of central Jeddah; allow roughly 25–45 minutes by road. Taxis, app-based cars and the Haramain railway serve the airport.
By Rail: The Haramain high-speed railway has an airport station with services towards Makkah and Madinah.
By Road: Airport taxis and app-based cars reach Jeddah districts; highways and coaches connect with Makkah and other cities.

King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED). Terminal 1 handles domestic and international services and connects with the Haramain railway station. Terminal 4 has received foreign airlines in phases since 27 September 2026, including Akasa Air from 29 September 2026, so check the terminal shown on the booking.
Salalah changes character with the season. During khareef, mist and rain turn nearby hills green, while the drier months favour beach and archaeological visits. Al Baleed tells the story of the old frankincense trade; Mughsail Beach and Wadi Darbat require trips beyond central streets. Travellers from India can reach most hotels quickly from Salalah Airport, but the wider Dhofar region needs a clear road plan. Check weather and access conditions before setting off towards valleys or mountain viewpoints.
A central Salalah hotel works well for Haffa Souq and short city outings. A beach resort creates a different visit, with meals and the waterfront close by but more driving for markets and heritage sites. The airport is near the urban area, yet the distance from the terminal to an outlying resort can differ considerably from a transfer to the town centre.
Al Baleed Archaeological Park and the Museum of the Frankincense Land belong together in one visit. The museum gives context to the trading landscape before a walk around the archaeological remains. Haffa Souq makes a separate market stop, with frankincense providing a direct link between the exhibits and goods sold in the city.
Divide the wider coastline into directions. Mughsail lies west of Salalah, whereas Wadi Darbat belongs to an eastern excursion, so combining them creates a long cross-region drive. During the khareef season, the appeal shifts towards Dhofar's greener hills and misty landscape; this also changes the character of a beach-centred holiday. A traveller staying only two nights should choose either the western coast or the eastern valley circuit alongside the city sights. That choice leaves room for Al Baleed instead of reducing it to a pause between road trips.
June to September for green khareef landscapes, about 23–29°C; October to March for drier outings.
By Air: Salalah Airport (SLL) is about 5.5 km from central Salalah; a taxi or booked car generally takes 10–20 minutes. Road travel serves the wider Dhofar region.
