Dushanbe has a civic centre arranged around Rudaki Avenue, park paths and large public buildings. The National Museum of Tajikistan and nearby gardens make an easy first day, while the National Museum of Antiquities needs a separate visit for its collections. The city is a starting point for wider Tajik travel, yet the mountains should not distract from the capital’s own museums and markets. Indian travellers can reach the centre from the airport quickly by car, although an unfamiliar address can slow the final approach.
Rudaki Avenue is a useful reference when selecting a central hotel, because the civic parks and major public buildings cluster around this spine. The National Museum of Tajikistan and the National Museum of Antiquities are different institutions, so tell a driver the full name rather than simply requesting the national museum. A visit to both needs separate blocks of time and a road or walking connection between them.
The National Museum’s galleries and nearby gardens make a manageable first day after an airport arrival. Its archaeology displays provide context for wider Tajik travel, while the Antiquities collection offers a different focus. Navruz celebrations fall in March and can bring special cultural programmes to the capital; the museum’s March 2026 exhibition was tied to that seasonal celebration. For a trip onwards into the mountains, arrange the vehicle, route and any required permission separately from the urban itinerary. Dushanbe’s airport is relatively close to central districts, but that does not make a mountain destination an equally short transfer. A hotel near Rudaki Avenue is useful for a city stay, while a departure for an inland route may begin from an operator’s meeting point elsewhere. Keep the first museum appointment flexible around the actual arrival, then group the parks and avenue into one walking circuit rather than repeatedly returning across town.

New Delhi is the seat of India's central government, and the metropolis around it runs on public administration, services, retail and the corporate offices of Gurugram and Noida. Three UNESCO World Heritage Sites lie within the city: the Red Fort complex, the Qutb Minar and its monuments, and Humayun's Tomb. Visitors come for those sites, for the food lanes of Old Delhi and for trade fairs at Pragati Maidan, and many use Delhi as the first stop before Agra, Jaipur or the hills of Himachal and Uttarakhand.
For a two or three day stay, Connaught Place, Paharganj and Karol Bagh sit on the Blue and Yellow metro lines, while Aerocity suits early departures because it is next to the airport. The Delhi Metro is the quickest way across the city, and a smart card or a QR ticket bought on a phone saves time at the counters. October to March is the main sightseeing season, though smog can be heavy in November, and Diwali week fills hotels and trains. May and June are extremely hot.
The Red Fort is closed on Mondays. At Jama Masjid and Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, remove your shoes and cover your shoulders and legs; the gurudwara also asks everyone to cover their head and lends scarves at the entrance. Swaminarayan Akshardham does not allow phones or cameras inside, so leave them in the cloakroom or at the hotel.
October to March, with days of about 7-30°C; November can bring heavy smog. April to June often passes 40°C.
By Air: Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) is about 16 km south-west of Connaught Place; allow 40-60 minutes by road, more at peak hours. The Airport Express metro line links Terminal 3 with New Delhi station, the Magenta Line serves Terminal 1, and prepaid taxis and app cabs run from all terminals.
By Rail: New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Old Delhi and Anand Vihar Terminal are the main stations. Vande Bharat trains run to Varanasi, Amritsar and Katra, and Rajdhani services link the city with Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
By Road: NH 44 runs north to Punjab and Kashmir, the Yamuna Expressway reaches Agra, and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is open in sections to the south-west. State and private buses leave from the Kashmere Gate, Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan bus terminals.
