Dhaka needs a realistic plan for road travel. Old Dhaka holds Lalbagh Fort, Ahsan Manzil and lanes with food and craft shops, while the National Parliament complex lies in a different part of the capital. The Buriganga still shapes the southern riverfront. Travellers from India can spend a day in one district rather than losing hours crossing between distant stops. Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is north of the older centre, and road traffic makes a fixed arrival appointment risky.
Gulshan and Banani are practical bases for meetings in northern Dhaka, but they do not put the old-city monuments nearby. A sightseeing day around Ahsan Manzil, the Buriganga and Lalbagh Fort should therefore start from a realistic road plan. These southern stops belong together; the National Parliament complex is better scheduled separately. A hotel’s district is more useful to an airport driver than a generic reference to central Dhaka, which covers a large and congested area.
The airport’s shuttle-bus information describes a connection to nearby transport points, not a direct sightseeing circuit through Old Dhaka. Match its stopping point with the next leg before relying on it with luggage. In September 2026, international flights still used Terminals 1 and 2 while the new Terminal 3 awaited its opening, so give an airport driver the terminal printed on the booking rather than assuming the newest building. Around Ahsan Manzil, a riverfront visit gives context to the Buriganga’s working role; Lalbagh Fort provides a different enclosed heritage setting. A boat outing and a fort visit also need separate arrangements. If the trip is mainly business in Gulshan, reserve an uninterrupted block for Old Dhaka rather than squeezing it between appointments on opposite sides of the capital.
November to February, about 14–28°C, for city walks.
By Air: Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) is about 15–20 km north of Old Dhaka; allow at least 45–90 minutes by road, depending on traffic. Taxis, arranged cars and airport shuttle buses are available.
By Rail: Kamalapur is the main intercity railway station; Dhaka Metro Rail serves parts of the city.
By Road: City buses and app-based cars cover Dhaka; intercity coaches depart from major terminals.
Walk the grounds of Lalbagh Fort.
Visit the galleries at Ahsan Manzil.
See the National Parliament House from the public grounds.
Explore the Liberation War Museum.
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC). Terminals 1 and 2 share the international terminal building, while a separate domestic terminal handles flights within Bangladesh. International arrivals use the ground floor and departures the second floor.
London works best when visits are grouped by area. The British Museum and Bloomsbury can fill one half day, while Westminster and the South Bank offer a different walk along the Thames. Borough Market is close to several river sights, and Greenwich deserves its own trip. From Heathrow, the Elizabeth line, Underground and express rail service reach different parts of the city, so the useful transfer depends on the hotel rather than simply on speed to Paddington.
Paddington is convenient for Heathrow Express arrivals, but the Elizabeth line can be more useful for a hotel near Tottenham Court Road or farther east. Bloomsbury suits the British Museum and central walks; South Kensington suits the museum quarter. Compare the final station rather than only the advertised airport-train duration. Heathrow’s Piccadilly line takes another route through west London and can avoid a change for some addresses.
Air India uses Terminal 2, while British Airways operates from Terminals 3 and 5. An airline name alone therefore does not always identify the correct building. Within London, use the same contactless card or Oyster card when entering and leaving a rail service. Greenwich is a separate outing along the Thames, not a quick extension of a Westminster museum day. The V&A East sites are in the Olympic Park and should not be confused with the original V&A in South Kensington. Pair the east London museums with one another instead of crossing the city between their entrances.
May to September, commonly about 11–24°C, for longer daylight and outdoor walks.
By Air: Heathrow Airport (LHR) is about 25 km west of central London. Heathrow Express reaches Paddington in 15 minutes from Terminals 2 and 3; Elizabeth line, Underground, coaches and taxis are alternatives.
By Rail: Paddington, King’s Cross St Pancras and Waterloo are major rail hubs; the Elizabeth line and Piccadilly line connect Heathrow with the city.
By Road: National Express coaches and local buses serve Heathrow; London buses and taxis cover the city.

Walk the Thames path along the South Bank.
