Ashgabat is a city whose scale is easiest to appreciate from its broad avenues and public monuments. The National Museum introduces the country's archaeology, while the Carpet Museum focuses on a major craft tradition. Old Nisa lies outside the central streets and needs a separate trip. Travellers from India should plan more than an airport transfer: Turkmenistan's visitor arrangements often involve a confirmed invitation and coordinated itinerary. The museum collections and archaeological landscape make useful anchors for that programme.
Plan the National Museum before Old Nisa if the itinerary allows. The museum supplies context for the archaeological visit, while the remains at Nisa need a road excursion beyond the urban monuments. UNESCO identifies the Parthian fortresses as an important centre of the ancient empire; approaching them as an archaeological landscape makes the trip more rewarding than treating the site as another city building.
The Carpet Museum provides a different focus, centred on weaving rather than monumental architecture. Give it a separate appointment in the programme so that the visit is not squeezed between long drives along the ceremonial avenues. The Independence Monument and Arch of Neutrality can be considered together when arranging the city route with the local operator.
Choose accommodation in consultation with the host handling the invitation and pickup. Ashgabat's wide roads and spread-out sights favour a coordinated vehicle itinerary over an assumption that every museum is within walking distance. An airport arrival followed by the Carpet Museum is a different plan from heading straight to Old Nisa.
Ask the operator to name each museum and archaeological stop in the proposed daily route. This makes the balance between gallery time, road travel and monument viewing concrete before committing to a short stay in the capital.

New Delhi is the seat of India's central government, and the metropolis around it runs on public administration, services, retail and the corporate offices of Gurugram and Noida. Three UNESCO World Heritage Sites lie within the city: the Red Fort complex, the Qutb Minar and its monuments, and Humayun's Tomb. Visitors come for those sites, for the food lanes of Old Delhi and for trade fairs at Pragati Maidan, and many use Delhi as the first stop before Agra, Jaipur or the hills of Himachal and Uttarakhand.
For a two or three day stay, Connaught Place, Paharganj and Karol Bagh sit on the Blue and Yellow metro lines, while Aerocity suits early departures because it is next to the airport. The Delhi Metro is the quickest way across the city, and a smart card or a QR ticket bought on a phone saves time at the counters. October to March is the main sightseeing season, though smog can be heavy in November, and Diwali week fills hotels and trains. May and June are extremely hot.
The Red Fort is closed on Mondays. At Jama Masjid and Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, remove your shoes and cover your shoulders and legs; the gurudwara also asks everyone to cover their head and lends scarves at the entrance. Swaminarayan Akshardham does not allow phones or cameras inside, so leave them in the cloakroom or at the hotel.
October to March, with days of about 7-30°C; November can bring heavy smog. April to June often passes 40°C.
By Air: Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) is about 16 km south-west of Connaught Place; allow 40-60 minutes by road, more at peak hours. The Airport Express metro line links Terminal 3 with New Delhi station, the Magenta Line serves Terminal 1, and prepaid taxis and app cabs run from all terminals.
By Rail: New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Old Delhi and Anand Vihar Terminal are the main stations. Vande Bharat trains run to Varanasi, Amritsar and Katra, and Rajdhani services link the city with Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
By Road: NH 44 runs north to Punjab and Kashmir, the Yamuna Expressway reaches Agra, and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is open in sections to the south-west. State and private buses leave from the Kashmere Gate, Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan bus terminals.
